Mo' Spikes, Mo' Twins, Mo' Chatons
I love saying "Chaton" - what a wonderful word.
Chaton, Chaton, Chaton. Excuse me, Chaton, please bring me another glass
of Chatonagne.
A very sparklying Chatonagne that would be. Chatons are pointed-back
rhinestones - and you can embed them in epoxy
clay (Apoxie Sculpt or Crystal
Clay). Or in polymer clay. You can use them in metal clay too - but you can't
fire them - they would melt before you got up to temperature - so you have
to leave a little divot for them, and add them afterwards. Or you could go
mixed-media - combining Metal Clay and Epoxy clay.
Well
- if rhinestones don't cause your heartbeat to spike, how about more colours
in the Spike beads?
You can really make a point with these. Talk about your statement jewelry!
And
speaking of new beads, if the new seedbead shape - the
two-hole "twin" bead - has fired your imagination - then you'll be happy to see we have more colours
in these now too!
And
by extension - if unusual shapes of small beads are what floats your boat
- we just got some nice Farfalle
mixes. Farfalle are also known as peanut
beads - although Farfalle translates to butterfly. The reason is that the
manufacturer named them Farfalle for their shape like Farfalle (butterfly)
pasta - and beaders renamed them "peanut" beads - because that is also what
they are shaped like. I think these Black
Diamond AB ones are really stunning
- regardless of the name.
Hmmm
- what else is new this week? Well - more colours of
Silk Strings.
Silk is so delightful - the colours are so rich, the texture is so - well
- silky.
Or
these, which are also olivish in shape, and have some green too.
More fiery and less olive-like, these Ruby
Bronze beads
are very striking.
Also red - but a different kind of red - a fun and funky
red instead of a formal and serious red, are these Cherry
Cordial beads.
