It was designed by Sylvia Pankhurst, the daughter of Emmeline Pankhurst, a leader of the British suffragette movement and the founder of the prominent women’s suffrage organization The Women’s Social and Political Union (WSPU).  Read more on the blog - absolutely fascinating!
