Seed-bead jewellery artist extraordinaire Diane Dennis will be leading three classes this coming June at BeadFX. A self-taught artist, Diane creates one-of-a-kind and
limited edition beadwork using seed-beads, semi-precious gemstones,
pearls, and
crystals. She has been featured in Fire Mountain Gems and Beads' catalogue
as a
contest winner and featured in their advertising. Diane has been published
in
Beadwork and Bead & Button magazines. Her piece Star Light Star
Bright appears in the Lark publication Showcase 500 Necklaces. Diane lives in
the Northern Virgina area in a town called Nokesville, which is outside
of Manassas, VA.
Diane currently teaches in the Northern Virginia area and in Maryland. Diane has been accepted to teach at Bead and Button show for 2014
and will also be teaching classes at 2014 Bead Fest Spring and Bead Fest PA
also various Bead Societies and bead shops locations on the east coast. We are very proud and excited to bring Diane to Canada to teach at BeadFX.
Diane will be teaching the following three classes:
Star Fish Pendant
Saturday, June 21
10:00am - 1:00pm
This sweet star fish uses two different sizes of seed beads and a series
of increases to create the Star Fish shape. This piece is very rigid
and has a back structure to maintain its shape and also features a loop
on the back of the pendant to suspend your pendant. This star fish will
measure approximately 2 inches across when completed. Everyone must be
proficient in the peyote stitch and have knowledge of stepping up to
begin each round. Instructor will discuss different bead size options
during the class for different sized pendants. Intermediate; must be proficient in peyote stitch and the step-up process. Class fee: $85 + HST.
Beaded Bangle Bracelet
Saturday, June 21
2:00 - 5:00pm
This bracelet features two different sizes of seed beads worked in the
Ndebelle/Herringbone stitch in a tubular fashion creating a hollow
substantial bracelet, with a unique loop and flapped hidden closure. You
will need to be proficient in the Ndebelle/Herringbone stitch. This
piece will be worked with a step up. Intermediate; must be proficient in Ndebelle/Herringbone stitch. Class fee: $85 + HST.
Puttin' on the Ritz
Sunday, June 22
10:00am - 5:00pm
Whether or not you dress casually or 'very
fashionably' this necklace is comfortable and fun to wear. You must be
proficient in the herringbone/Ndebelle stitch, working in a circular,
tubular fashion with a step up at the end of each round. We will also be
working the beads into ribbon strips which will give a soutache effect
around the crystal pearls. Intermediate to Advanced; Must be proficient in the
Herringbone/Ndebelle stitch, working in a circular, tubular fashion with
a step-up at the end of each round. Class fee: $170 + HST.
Each class requires supplies to be purchased and brought to the class. The supply list is included with each class' website description.
