Building a Beading Community at Open Beading Nights

Great news! Open Beading Nights are continuing through the summer! What? You don't know about Open Beading Night?!

Dawn busy seedbeading
Even though each person is busy working on their own project, the camaraderie is clearly evident when you step into the classroom at Open Beading Night. On any given night, you’ll find eight to ten busy people laughing and sharing stories and giving each other support and ideas as they stitch, string and bead. Sisters Bonnie and Dawn are two of the regular attendees. "Coming to Open Beading Night gives me time to actually bead," says Dawn. "People ask questions that you haven't thought of. You always learn new things," adds Bonnie.

Open Beading Nights are facilitated by Stephanie Dixon, a staff member and instructor at BeadFX. Stephanie’s bubbly and out-going personality definitely helps to liven up the evening.

Open Beading Nights are perfect opportunities for beginners to get help with projects. While the evening is not intended to be a class, Stephanie is able to answer questions and help with tips and techniques to make jewellery-making easier. All techniques are worked on from seedbeading to Crystal Clay to wire work. A library of beading, wire and art clay magazines are available to peruse for endless ideas and inspiration. Claudette, another Open Beading Night regular states that "You see someone trying something that you want to do."

Open Beading Nights takes place most Wednesdays from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Best of all, it is free! We strongly recommend that you register; just call the store at (416) 751-1911. More information is on our website by clicking on “classes” on the home page and going to the current month’s calendar.
