Do you love Fibre? No - not Bran Muffins with extra roughage
- I mean long silky threads in hypnotic colours, rich, textured wool that
is as soft as a cloud, ethereal ribbons that float rather than fall - in
short - if you have a stash of yarn that is threatening to explode out of
the back room - if you have it as bad for textiles as you do for beads -
then - this is your lucky day. Or unlucky day, as the case may be - as we
are now able to enable your fibre addiction as well as your beading addiction!
If you read our teaser
on Monday - you know that we are now a distributor for Mirrix
Looms. Mirrix make looms especially for the beader who wants to work with
fibre - and the weaver who wants to play with beads.
These pint
sized looms are small enough to pop in your carry bag and hit the road
with you, sit in your lap at lunch or let you weave the wasted hours on
the train into wonderful creations. And should you choose to go with a
slightly larger version - remember - you can put two small projects on
a bigger loom - you work on whichever one strikes your fancy! (Great for
those of us with ADOS - Attention Deficit ooooo shiny.)
If you don't
know anything about weaving (like me when Marg pulled these out
of the box - I mean - shedding device? Seriously? I have a shedding
device at home - 3 of them - they are called cats and dogs .... ) - there
are oodles of resources - starting with videos on youtube.
New Stone(s) of the Month
Well
- actually - two new stones of the month. We've featured Rhyolite
- also known as Rain Forest Jasper - before - but this new shipment of
stone is a softer, gentler looking stone. Primarily sage greens with puddles
of dark green - with some creams and browns - this is a handsome, organic
looking stone - just waiting for the perfect accent. Copper anyone?
In
addition - we have Matte
Carnelian. This yummy-enough-to-eat stone is translucent
- so it almost seems to glow with reflected light. The not-glossy matte finish
is hot, Hot, HOT - especially for making men's jewelry.
So, as always - wonderful things all over the site - so
click on a link or an image to go straight to the item mentioned, or go to
our
listing-o'-everthing and
look for the "new" tags. If that page seems overwhelming - which
we freely admit it is! - then try for bite-size portions by checking out
these categories: Firepolish, Pressed
Glass, Swarovski
Crystal, Seedbeads, Stone
and Pearls, Preciosa
Crystal, Metal
Beads, Other
Cool Beads, Findings, Metal
Clay & Supplies or Books,

And don't forget to check out our free, yes, free
