New at BeadFX: It's a Stony Road we Walk

When life gives you lemons - make lemonade, and when the road is stony - well - just polish those suckers up and make jewellery! And if the road is not particularly stony - such as perhaps you have escaped to an exotic foreign isle, with acres and acres of sandy beaches, swaying palm trees, and helpful people to bring you an endless supply of rum drinks - well - good for you. Send me your address cuz I'm a'comin' to visit you!

In the absence of fantasy islands like that - there is not much more soothing than getting out your creative-supplies and making something wonderful. Or weird. Or both. We know that most of you, like most of us, cross disciplines and participate in more than one crafty or artistic endeavour. You bead, and knit. You scrapbook, and you wire wrap. You stamp, and nearly everything in the house has resin on it. You once crocheted a cozy for your Roomba(tm), and then made beaded flowers for it. The list is endless. As is the creativity.

In the spirit of that, next week - I invite you to watch for a new weekly blog feature on "mixed media" by Anne Marie. If you are not already following along on our blog - you should know that we feature a lot of good stuff there! Where was I? Oh yes - this week's update. (Squirrel!) Yes - I have ADOS - attention deficit - ooh shiny!

Stones! This week we have two stones for you - more Black Silver Leaf Jasper - which is a handsome, not-too-flashy stone in shades of black, grey and cream. Nice neutral fall colours - this stone would go with either silver or gold findings and you can make it the main course in your creation, or an accent to something else, like a porcelain pendent or lampwork beads.

If you are starting to think about autumn colours and fall creations (because - yeah - the hottest days of the year happening in September makes me think of fall. Long for it, actually!) then - how about some Venus Jasper? Venus Jasper - named for the goddess of beauty and love, is also known by the harder to say name of Orbicular Rhyolite. We say that a stone by any other name is just as handsome. And we are considering ourselves lucky that it wasn't called Pumpkin Spice Jasper. Brace yourselves - Pumpkin Spice Everything is coming.


Also new this week - more ... wait for it ... Superduos. That now makes 442 active colours of Superduos. (and just you wait - the Mini-Superduos are coming ... )










And, just a handful of new exotic 8/0 Delicas - including Crystal Marea, Matte Vitrail, Magic Orchid, and Magic Blue

So, as you walk the stony road of life - remember to stop and pick some up and put them in your pocket. You never know how they might polish up!
