Swarovski Encrusted Orbs
Ooooo - how beautiful are these? Swarovski encrusted filigree beads. They are so awesome, I can't even think of anything clever to say about them. They are just so awesome - they are full of awesome-sauce. Actually - they are full of air inside, which makes them light enough to use as earrings - or even 4 of them in a single earring - so check out the inspiration, which does exactly that!
One of the things that I think is particularly fascinating about these beads is how much the colour of the metal changes the look of the Swarovski rhinestones. For instance, this is Crystal AB with Antique Gold metal, and this Crystal AB with Antique Silver. Equally fabulous - but completely different!
Stone of the Month
Flipping over to something much earthier - new Stone of the month - Pyrite! I love the rough elegance, the understated quality of pyrite - it's such a contrast - it makes me want to build huge, chunky bracelets, mix it with Onyx or something red, like garnet.
Some of you requested the Tierracast cornerless cubes - so here they are, in Rhodium, Copper, Noir, and, of course, Brass Ox. For those of you who haven't been lusting after these, they are cube bead with the corners whacked off and a bump on the faces, that makes them look like some sort of exotic dice. And they come in a range of sizes too.
Owls!
Simulated Ivory Owls - no ivories were harmed in the making of these owls - and no owls were 'armed either. Or no howls were harmed.
But if you are worried about 'ungry owls, you can get them a nice simulated ivory fishy for breakfast.
Dragonflies!
My - it's quite the trip through the animal kingdom here today, what with the owls and the fishes, and also Dragonflies! We have the Decoupage Picture Dragonflies and the Inlay Dragonflies! And if that isn't buggy enough for you, how about some Cloisonne Ladybugs? Boro Fish anyone? Cloisonne Scallops? Mmmm - scallops.
New Magazines and Book
New Magazines - hot off the presses, BeadStyle, Lapidary Journal, Art Jewelry, and Metal Clay.
And a new book for all you clever seedbeaders too - Maggie Meister's Classical Elegance. Totally drool-worthy jewelry inspired by classical art and architecture. De-lish!
