Final Round-up of Summer Classes

"Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened."
- Dr. Seuss

Eight weeks of summer are just flying by. Pretty soon we'll be discussing Fall colours and getting ready for holiday shopping - BUT NOT YET! Until then, we have two weeks of wonderful classes provided by our inspirational instructors. Christine Woollacott is teaching how you can create a patterned sheet of mokume gane from which you can use to create all sorts of jewellery. If you're looking to learn how to do basic right-angle weave, then Pamela Kearns has the class for you - very useful too for a refresher before Jill Wiseman's classes. If you're interested in metal clay, Sue Henry's class will take you through the basics of Prometheus bronze clay. Metal enthusiasts will enjoy Kelly Garland's Forged Sterling Ring with Pearl and wire aficionados will enjoy Jane Doidge's class on creating a pendant bezel inspired by Spirograph. Sureka Sriharan brings us a beautiful bracelet incorporating cupchain, regular chain and leather - no stitching required!

Of course we have lots of returning and encore classes - just in case you missed them the first time around!

Welcome to the Dog Days of Summer:
We're Sirius about our Classes!

Dog Days is the name for the most sultry period of summer, from about July 3 to August 11. Named in early times by observers in countries bordering the Mediterranean, the period was reckoned as extending from 20 days before to 20 days after the conjunction of Sirius (the dog star) and the sun.
- Columbia Encyclopedia

Yes, I know puns are the lowest form of humour, but it fits so well! The fact of the matter is that our instructors continue to offer classes - including several new ones - during August. By the way, the air conditioning works very well in the classroom; you're advised to bring a light sweater or wrap.

What's NEW? Liz Reynolds is teaching a reverse construction and overlay techniques using Hadar's Clays (a powdered bronze and copper metal clay available in various colours); beginners are welcome! Kelly Garland is teaching how to cast sterling silver using a cuttlefish as a casting medium to create a small shell - perfect for a small pendant! Jenn Jevons, our Art Clay Silver expert is teaching how to create toggle clasps. Marilyn Gardiner brings us a new chainmaille design that you will use to create a bracelet.

We also have lots of encore classes too including a two-day introductory course in lampworking with Amy Waldman-Smith, a wire macramé class with Pamela Kearns, a paper bead class with Ann Marie Desaulniers,  a netting class with Maria Rypan, art clay silver classes with Jen Jevons and so much more!

Join us for our annual Customer Appreciation event on Friday, August 7 so we can say thank you for supporting BeadFX in person! There will be draws throughout the evening as well as refreshments. All are welcome to this FREE event.
