Final Round-up of Summer Classes

Eight weeks of summer are just flying by. Pretty soon we'll be discussing Fall colours and getting ready for holiday shopping - BUT NOT YET! Until then, we have two weeks of wonderful classes provided by our inspirational instructors. Christine Woollacott is teaching how you can create a patterned sheet of mokume gane from which you can use to create all sorts of jewellery. If you're looking to learn how to do basic right-angle weave, then Pamela Kearns has the class for you - very useful too for a refresher before Jill Wiseman's classes. If you're interested in metal clay, Sue Henry's class will take you through the basics of Prometheus bronze clay. Metal enthusiasts will enjoy Kelly Garland's Forged Sterling Ring with Pearl and wire aficionados will enjoy Jane Doidge's class on creating a pendant bezel inspired by Spirograph. Sureka Sriharan brings us a beautiful bracelet incorporating cupchain, regular chain and leather - no stitching required!

There is Still Time for a Class (or two) Before the End of Summer

I can't believe that Summer will soon be over and another season will be rushing in to take its place! Have no fear - there is still time to join us for a class during August.

 In addition to returning favourites, we have two new classes. Marilyn Gardiner is bringing us a chainmaille necklace that is sure to garner lots of admiration. For Art Clay Silver enthusiasts, Jenn Jevons is teaching a focal pendant class that combines beads and metal clay. Also, if you've taken a class with Angela Peace and need a little extra help with a knot or other technique that she teaches, bring it in to her free Knot Doctor Session!

Getting Ready for Shelley Nybakke's classes

Right-Angle Weave (or, RAW) is a versatile bead stitching technique that can create organic and geometric shapes. The stitch is done most frequently with one needle following a figure-8 thread path. Rows are built upon rows and can be easily increased or decreased. All kinds of beads can be used in RAW and layers can also be built up to give dimension to bracelet and bangles.

Shelley Nybakke has garnered a solid reputation as an artist creating bangles, bracelets and all kinds of jewellery using right-angle weave. In addition to finding her in various beading magazines including Beadwork and Bead and Button, you'll also find her work in Stitch Workshop: Right-Angle Weave, which we currently have in stock at BeadFX. We're very pleased to bring Shelley to BeadFX to share her expertise with right-angle weave! August isn't far away so register now for these exciting classes.

This one reminded me of Stained Glass Windows.  But that is sort of a boring name for me and has probably been used numerous times already.  So Steamy Windows it is.  That name reminds me of my high school days and steamy times in a Chevy Super Sport.  And of course no one describes Steamy Windows better than Tina Turner. Layered Right Angle Weave.

Diamonds in the Rough

Who could ever say no to a diamond.  Of any kind?  Not me. A girl just can't have too many. I'm working on my collection.  But in my wise old age, I like diamonds made from Firepolish, Swarovski crystals, pearls.  Anything.  I've learned that a real diamond isn't all it is CRACKED up to be.
