InspirationFX: Dalmatia

Get your creative juices flowing

Dalmatia
by: Lee Metsalo
Dalmatia! Which came first, the dog or the country? Well - the country - but this historic area of Croatia was renown for it's sheep, whose wool made fine vestments which became known as Dalmatics. The dog also came from the area, and the distinctive spotted coat lent it's name to this variety of Jasper!

This knotted necklace is long enough to just pop over your head (assuming you don't have really big hair!) and so you don't need a clasp. A knot between each bead keeps them spaced out and prevents them from rubbing. It also means that if the necklace breaks - you never lose more than one bead!

Editor's Note: Lee got her inspiration from taking Rae's knotting class! (Next one - as of this writing - is Jan 21, 2014). If you are reading this years from now, however, there are  over 8,000 videos on YouTube on how to do pearl knotting ... probably more by the time you read this.
