Inspiration Fridays

Before I get to the current pics - I need to show off Nathalie's work.  Do you remember this pic from a few weeks ago - This was inspiration 1:
Flowers For Debra-6055

"My bracelet is a “looser” interpretation of the image... my thick swirly wire that supports the focal represents the tendrils, and the big round focal (a lampwork glass cabochon made by one of my friends) had those bright colors, shape and flow of the big tropical flower. "

You can see more of Nathalie's work on her site.
Also check out her Artfire Studio

This next piece is one I designed with the dogwood blooms as the inspiration. Loosely, as I used cherry blossoms instead...

This piece was more of a compilation of sorts. I actually designed the branch at the last metal clay play day. In Kate McKinnon's newest book, one of the projects was a branch made from a fine silver wire armature, then built up with clay and paste.  I've had this sitting on my workbench unfired for a while - I also had some cherry blossoms cut out from paper clay in a little dish of bits I keep on my bench.

Something quite bizarre happened somewhere along the line though. When I put my pendant in the kiln to be fired - It had three full blossoms, when it came out - half of one blossom was completely missing. And I mean gone. Right there on the tray, before I even picked it up - a chunk was missing. The missing piece wasn't on the tray, or anywhere else in the kiln. Two possibilities - 1) it vaporized, or 2) I'm loosing it. I prefer to go with option 1. :-)

That's all we have for this week..I hope I didn't miss anyone!

For next week- here is your inspiration pic: Home for a Knome   - We invite everyone to play along. Make something, anything at all, inspired by the weeks picture. Send it to info@beadfx.com with the subject "Inspiration Fridays"

Thank you for posting the pictures of my bracelet :o)

I never thought of doing a fine silver branch armature and then covering it with PMC... very neat idea! I love what you did... (and I'm voting for option 1 too!)

Oh boy, new inspiration picture... I can't keep up! LOL

I'll see what I can do about last week's and this week's picture.

Very inspiring - my mind goes in a million directions!

Cheers,
Nathalie

I actually have a plan for this next one - and if all goes well, I'm going to work on it tonight. I do have the rest of season 4 of buffy to watch while I'm working on it :-) - I'm at the part where the commando chief has gone all evil ;-)

I can't wait to see what you will make Jen! With Buffy to keep you company, it should go well :o)

I have an idea in mind for this one (mushrooms) to do with PMC. I just need to find the time to sit down and do it.

Gillian is the talented glass artist (and friend) who made the glass cabochon featured in this bracelet. I love Gillian's lampwork beads and cabochons - she is a top notch Canadian glass artist. Make sure to check out her online shop!

Cheers!
Nathalie

"Inspiration Fridays" is such a great idea! Not only are the pics inspiring but so are all the designs created based on them.

I'm a huge fan of Nathalie's work! And that bracelet is one of my favorites from her recent designs.

Nice Work Ladies....

Thanks for sharing.

Jen, I hope you are not loosing it, too. You could go with option three gremlins in your kiln. (BTW - If you do find that you are "loosing it" call me and I will come and help you find "it" again.) - H
